The Fred Wiche Volunteer of the Year Award
will honor one outstanding volunteer for their valuable and selfless commitment to keeping Louisville clean and green, their dedication and contribution to building of Brightside awareness, and their demonstration of Brightside’s core mission, “to unite community members in clean and green activities that beautify and foster pride in our community through volunteerism, planting, sustainability, and education.”

Nominees for this award should exhibit the following characteristics:

  • Be a current or past Brightside volunteer
  • Provide sustained, outstanding volunteer leadership at either their local neighborhood or community-wide level.
  • Demonstrate exceptional leadership qualities, whether in a formal volunteer leadership role or through more informal teaching and mentoring activities
  • Provide volunteer leadership that significantly contributes to the fulfillment of Brightside’s mission

The Brightside One Bright City Award – Community Group

The One Bright City Award will recognize a community group who in addition to contributing many hours, demonstrate outstanding passion and commitment and are instrumental to Brightside’s activities, programs and mission.

Nominees for this award should exhibit the following characteristics:

  • Be a group of two or more individuals who volunteer together through Brightside
  • Volunteer as a group with Brightside in the past year OR volunteer as individuals within the past year as part of a group initiative
  • Contribute to Brightside in a unique or exceptional way through volunteer service
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to Brightside and its mission 

One Bright City Award Nomination

 

The Brightside Green Acorn Award for Outstanding Youth Leadership

The Brightside Acorn Award for Outstanding Youth Leadership recognizes that youth volunteers are not only the leaders of tomorrow – they are the leaders of today. We will recognize one outstanding young leader.

Nominees for this award should exhibit the following characteristics:

  • Youth must have served as a Brightside volunteer or organized a Brightside volunteer event or other educational programming provided by Brightside
  • Youth should have demonstrated outstanding leadership in their school, community or local chapter to further Brightside’s mission.
  • Must be under the age of 21 as of 12/31/2023

Brightside Corporate Awards

The Mayor’s Brightside Award for Outstanding Corporate Engagement

This award will recognize a company that shows an exemplary overall approach to corporate volunteering and community engagement through Brightside and its mission.

Nominees for this award should exhibit the following characteristics:

  • Be a current Brightside partner or sponsor
  • Participate in a Brightside volunteer or fundraising event within the last year – this can include a cleanup, tree planting event, BrightSite planting project, etc.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to Brightside and its mission through its corporate stewardship

Outstanding Corporate Engagement Nomination

 

The Brightside One Bright Future Award

This award will recognize an exceptional individual who is an emerging leader in his or her business or profession, who gives back to the community through or with Brightside and who clearly serves as a role model for both young men and women personally and professionally. The winner of this award will receive one-year paid membership to the Young Professionals Association of Louisville organization.

Nominees for this award should exhibit the following characteristics:

  • The nominee should have demonstrated excellence, enthusiastic participation, organizational creativity, leadership and passion for Brightside.
  • This outstanding individual demonstrates exceptional leadership in helping their local community to become cleaner, greener and more beautiful through their role as a volunteer separate from regular job duties.
  • Must be at or under 40 years of age as of 12/31/2023

One Bright Future Award Nomination

 

2024 Brightside Bash presented by Republic Bank Foundation

The 11th Annual Brightside Bash presented by Republic Bank Foundation will be held on Wednesday, September 25th from 6:00 – 9:00 pm at Clayton & Crume’s flagship store in Nulu.

This much-beloved event is the Brightside Foundation’s largest and most important fundraiser, helping support Brightside’s cleanliness, beautification, and education programs throughout Louisville and Jefferson County, Kentucky.

This year’s event promises to be one for the books. So, be sure to purchase your ticket(s) before it’s too late. A limited number of VIP tickets are also available and include two complimentary cocktails and Pre-Bash early access.
