Brightside promotes long-standing sustainability educational programs that help spread our mission to our youth that will help prepare us for a much brighter tomorrow. These programs empower our community to become stewards of the environment by planting trees, picking up trash, and doing their part to keep our city beautiful.
The idea is simple, really. If we teach our students about planting trees, picking up litter, and being a good steward of our environment, then as they grow up, we hope to have many more adults who will be looking out for our environment.
Using Dr. Suess’ The Lorax, Brightside teaches preschool children about the many benefits of trees, air cleanliness and litter prevention highlighting how good environmental habits can improve our community.
Through free environmental programming for Jefferson County Public School kindergarten through third grade classes, we teach the importance of litter prevention, water and energy conservation, and the many benefits of trees.
Meeting the campers in the environment they’re supposed to protect, we offer presentations to summer camps for second to fourth grade aged children to educate them about Brightside and to teach ways that they can get involved to help keep their neighborhoods clean, green, and sustainable.
Your donation directly improves the green spaces, tree canopies and reduces litter to create a greener Louisville.
